Which one am I actually asking for?
This is the bit that puts people off booking. Salons use these four names differently, so the safest thing is to describe what you want left rather than trust the label — Stephanie would far rather you did that than guess and get a surprise.
Bikini
£20The line only.
Takes the hair that would show outside a normal bikini bottom. Everything else stays. The least involved of the four, and the usual starting point if you have not had one before.
G-string
Ask on the dayA deeper bikini line.
Takes the sides further in than a bikini wax, and a little more off the top. Still leaves a good amount. The clinic describes this one but never published a separate price — worth asking when you ring.
Brazilian
£50Nearly everything, small strip left.
Removes the intimate hair and can leave a small strip at the front. This is the one most people mean when they say "a Brazilian", but say it out loud anyway — how much is left is up to you.
Hollywood
Ask on the dayAll of it, including the back.
A full intimate wax with no strip left, including the back. The clinic describes this one but never published a separate price, so ask when you book.

Ladies waxing
Brazilian

Removes hair from the entire pubic region, including the front, back, and everything in between. It often leaves a small strip or triangle of hair in the front.
Hollywood

Similar to a Brazilian — complete removal of pubic hair, including the front, back, and everything in between. Unlike the Brazilian, there is no strip or triangle of hair left.
G-string

Removes hair from the sides of the bikini line, and a bit more from the top than a standard bikini wax. Shaped, as the name suggests, like a G-string.
Bikini

The line only — the hair that would show outside a normal bikini bottom. Everything else stays. The usual starting point if you have never had one.
You do not have to say the word.
Point at the picture, mumble it, spell it out — she has heard every version. Here is the translation so you know what you are getting either way.

Questions everybody has and nobody asks
All of these get asked eventually, usually halfway through. You may as well have the answers now.
Will it hurt?
A bit, honestly. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. The clinic uses the VWAX method, which it says is designed to make waxing less painful, and an intimate wax takes about twenty minutes start to finish. Most people find the anticipation worse than the thing itself.
Will I cry?
Probably not. Some people go very quiet, some people talk non-stop, and both are completely normal. You will not be the first person to swear.
Do I have to do an awkward pose?
For an intimate wax, yes, a bit — Stephanie will tell you exactly how to move and it is over quickly. Nobody is looking at you the way you think they are. She does this all day.
What if I have not, you know, tidied up first?
Then you are like most people who walk in. Do not trim it yourself beforehand hoping to be helpful — it is genuinely easier for her if you leave it alone.
What do I actually ask for?
Describe what you want left rather than relying on a name. Salons use Brazilian, Hollywood and G-string to mean slightly different things, so saying it out loud saves any surprise. There is a guide further up this page.
Can I come on my period?
This was not covered on the clinic’s old website, so ring and ask rather than trusting anything you read online. She will not be remotely bothered by the question.
How long does it need to be?
A length was never published, so ask when you book. Turning up too short is the most common reason an appointment cannot go ahead.
Men — is this for me too?
Yes. Men’s waxing is on the menu, in the same room, with the same complete lack of fuss.
